Back at it again

We should know better by now, we really should. When we think that things are going to be straight forward and easy, they never are.

First off, yea for MEA! We got a 4 day weekend to attack the house!

This weekend's big project was to take out one window in the bedroom, and install a new one. We knew that this would entail tearing off the plaster on that wall (which also happened to have had a door sealed into the wall) - a task we completed Thursday morning. This morning when the window guys showed up, we started taking out the lath, only to find plastered in between our studs brick fragments mixed with concrete. No wonder that room is always so cold!! So, John and I did a power demolition of the area that the window guys needed... filling our 3rd dumpster with debris. And, of course, we discovered that the house is (surprise) not square, and needed to make the call of squaring the window with the world (no) or the celing (yes). Fun fun.

Our contractor is back (yea!!!) and is working on the remaining indoor projects. We now have heat to the addition, and most of a pantry wall.

The end sum of it is... our house is back to being a construction zone. EVERYTHING will need to be cleaned again. There will be no cooking in the house for a couple of days... or else we'll be eating quite a bit of 100+ year old dust. :-P

Yesterday, Sabrina went to the vet for the first time. She took it all very well, and has been getting quite used to the travel cage with everyone flying in and out of doors today.

I can't wait to reclaim the house...
